  I went to Becker ENT/Dr. Lupa for a second opinion regarding having dual myringotomies w/ tube placements performed that a "factory ENT practice" told me I "needed." When I went to my PCP and expressed concern over having such an invasive procedure for a straightforward inner ear infection/fluid in my middle ear, my PCP referred me to Becker ENT and I was able to get an emergency appointment w/ Dr. Lupa that very same day. My mind was immediately put at ease upon meeting Dr. Lupa; his bedside manner was excellent...friendly, patient, and very knowledgeable. He spent at least one-half hour with me including his exam and consultation; I learned a great deal during my first visit with him. This experience was very unlike the first ENT practice I went to which made use of assistants for the majority of your office visit...a doctor only saw you for 5-10 minutes, if that, which is certainly not enough time to ask questions and be put at ease, in my opinion. Dr. Lupa, however, focused on my immediate problem which was draining the fluid from my inner ear that had been there for over a month (the fluid would not respond to several courses of antibiotics & steroids)...he explained that this would relieve the intense pressure and pain that I had been suffering, and immediately restore my lost hearing. He performed the procedure the following day, in his office, with a sedative and a local anesthetic, saving a great deal of time and money. I liked Dr. Lupa so much that I have decided to stay with him; I am currently exploring longstanding sinus issues at my own pace, without feeling the pressure of a "factory" ENT practice. I like being treated as a person with feelings and opinions, not just another number. If you like individualized attention and being treated like a unique human being, then I suggest seeing Dr. Lupa at Becker ENT...he's a class act specialist!
